Apple Surprise and more

The biggest news in this a couple of days I would say is about Apple's earnings.  It blew away all the "false prophets".  With Steve Jobs passing away, we all thought Apple would drop, but what a surprise! Apple’s116 percent profit growth helped push its total cash to $97.6billion -- enough to cover Greece's debt payments due in thenext two years, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Interesting enough, around the same time of Apple's earning announcemen, Dr. Mahon sent us an article called "How the U.S.lost out on iPhone work".  It mainly discusses the reasons Apple moved and plans to keep its manufacturing overseas.  According to the article, "It isn’t just that workers are cheaper abroad. Rather, Apple’s executives believe the vast scale of overseas factories as well as the flexibility, diligence and industrial skills of foreign workers have so outpaced their American counterparts that “Made in the U.S.A.” is no longer a viable option for most Apple products."

I understand this is a very sensitive topic, and I have no intend to hurt anyone's feeling, but I believe, Apple will not be as successful as it is now if without its overseas workforce's support.  here's the original link for the article http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/22/business/apple-america-and-a-squeezed-middle-class.html?_r=3&ref=charlesduhigg&pagewanted=all

It always annoys me when I hear people say Chinese people live with no dignity if they are even willing to take on so much.  Those Chinese workers are not forced but choose pursuing better lives in their own perspectives. They are desperated in some sense, because they have to make hard-earned money to support their families.  It isn't like here in the US, people can get food stamps.  I've heard people said "only 12 dollars an hours is not worth it.  I would rather stay at home." What is the reasoning behind this statement? "Well, Uncle Sam will take care of me. " Where does Uncle Sam's money come from other than printing machine? For the last a couple of years, the majority has come from China.  But why China has money, it comes from those people who work with no dignity in some people's standard.  And the money comes to support those people who live in dignity by sitting at home receiving government fund.Without any bias, I understand why Apple would prefer one group of workforce over the other.

This is a picture of poor people from US vs. China. Who has more dignity?  Perhaps we should stop blaming others and take a moment to self exam.
